The Physiotherapy service provided in the Sulus centre will thoroughly assess, treat and manage a wide range of Neuromusculoskeletal conditions. Such conditions include headaches, whiplash, neck pain, back pain, nerve pain, joint pain, soft tissue injuries, muscle/tendon strains, ligament sprains, foot pain and recovery from fractures. Biomechanical/Orthotic assessments can also be carried out as required.
A number of treatment modalities will be used depending on the condition involved. These include:
• Soft tissue massage
• Deep transverse friction massage
• Joint mobilisations (vertebral and peripheral joints)
• Muscle Energy Techniques
• Myofascial/Muscle trigger point release
• Electrotherapy
• Taping/Strapping
• Home Exercise prescription
• Education and advice
• Biomechanical assessment / Orthotic prescription
New patients attending the Physiotherapy clinic for the first time will be assessed in order to obtain a thorough history of their complaints. An objective examination will then be completed using a number of tests. The structure/structures at fault will be identified and the necessary treatment will be delivered. Patients may also be asked to complete a specific exercise programme to compliment their treatment.
In the near future it is hoped that the Physiotherapy clinic will provide a Vestibular Rehabilitation service. This service will aim to assess, treat and manage patients suffering from inner ear disorders eg Dizziness/Vertigo etc. Stay tuned for more information!
